Crafting Living Spaces

Residential design is the art and science of shaping living spaces to reflect both functionality and aesthetic harmony, ensuring comfort and practicality for individuals and families. This field encompasses designing homes, apartments, and other dwellings with consideration for personal needs, spatial configurations, and environmental factors. From selecting materials and layouts to incorporating natural light and optimizing space, residential design blends creativity with technical expertise. It often involves balancing individual tastes with sustainable practices to craft spaces that are not only visually appealing but also enduring and adaptable to lifestyle changes.

Residential Interiors Diploma - Directed Studies

As my final project for the Residential Interiors Diploma, I applied all the skills learned throughout the course. I used various software programs, including AutoCAD, Chief Architect, PowerPoint, Word, and SketchUp. The project involved designing a house from scratch based on a brief, developing the concept, drawing floor plans, and specifying furniture, materials, lighting, and fixtures. At the end of the term, I presented the project to instructors and classmates.
